Ouch, my face between my ears and eyes hurts because I was smiling and laughing too much at the Adam Green concert, I’m pretty glad that I found out about him. It was a hard call if I should go to Adam or to go see the Drive-By Truckers,… I guess it just came down to A.G. playing a few blocks from my house.
I felt great today. I was tired all week from taking a redeye flight to Virginia last weekend and just enver recovered. I felt kinda stupid for sleeping until 2pm today but an hour after I got up I felt more with it than I had in probably a month and it very vry much justified sleeping 11 hours.
2pm because I stayed up pretty late last night going to see YMSB.
Sunday holds some Ultimate tryouts in store, we’ll see how that goes. Unfortunately two teams are having them at the same time. I’m so undecided. I’m so torn.
Also I looked at some pictures of Cathedal in the Desert and I’m kinda kicking myself for not being an experiences rapeller… Yay Utah, can’t believe I’ll be in canyon country in under a week. Yay vacation.
Wow, something happened this morning which left me both speechless and wanting to call everyone I know warning them… Figured I’d wait a few minutes and post it to yo ole blog.
I was hopping off the commuter train this morning, having just finished peeking at The Economist which I stole from Continental Airlines last weekend. Not so bad that I stole it, their promo copies are doing what they should, I’m on the verge of subscribing.
Off the train… I tuned my new M3 to 93.3, a spanish language station here in the bay area and was sucked into a slickly done promotional segment, I sure am glad I’ve learned some Spanish… Here’s the general idea:
[chime-based light lullaby music in background]
Mom: Good night son, sleep well and don’t have any bad dreams.
Son: Thanks mom, but I’m still scared. Please don’t turn off the lights.
Mom: Ok, I’ll leave the light dim for you. What are you scared of?
Son: It’s the terrorists. The terrorists are scaring me.
Mom: Don’t be afraid because we’re prepared.
[enter the narrator]
Narrator: Learn how you can be prepared for terrorism as well at www.listo.gov. [sister site to www.ready.gov]
So have I isolated myself in my own pick-and-chose media so long that I am now shocked when I hear something like this. All that was running through my mind is that Goebbels has come back to life in the United States of America. How much more blatant can it get that the government is running a campaign of fear. Lying in bed being scared of terrorists, that’s nice. Let’s give all the kids nightmares about being hit by a car bomb in their sleep. I guess they’re already having them and this just legitimates it. Surely when they wake up they will vote for the “we will protect you from burning in your sleep” political party. Is fear to be our governing principle? Is hate slated to supersede love. Hasn’t anyone watched Star Wars lately?
Everybody, get out your duct tape and read things by other people who maybe put my sentiments better than I do.
In conclusion, I leave you with the words of Bob Dylan.
Wow, I hit 10,000 scrobbles today. That’s a lot of songs. Granted I think I left Howlin’ Wolf run on repeat one night, but still….. oh, and for those that are wondering what I’m talking about, here’s my previous post on the topic.
