blog.law

DFC had mentioned in passing that the law circles have become some of the most avid users of blogs. I didn't really understand the connection until I decided over the last two weeks to finally throw down and tackle the LSAT...

There is so much in this realm of law and policy that it is only natural to find an outlet for the many thoughts and ideas in a forum that can quickly express and compose thought. Since I announced to the world at large ("Hey World at Large!") that I was chosing a career in law, I've discovered a rapid current of other students, apprentices, attornies and counselors for whom the language of law is a passion. It is an expression of idea, reason, and rationale that has incredible power for good or for evil.

I am starting this blog in order to chronicle my journey. There will be many. May this be the first digital footstep.

You May Know a Thing or Two...

...but you're no Neumann. I was recipient of yet another wonderful evening shared with Volker and Johanna. I count myself fortunate to be in the presence of people who are so effortless in their grace and good will.

As DJ 1E dressed his mint green room with music we found ourselves (Johanna, Molly, Taus, and myself) engaged in the free spirited dialogue that only comes when you are being yourself. I reflected on the state of "Naturalness" and felt everything about that place and time, the people and the mood was an extension of what is good and what comes from within.

The lines and cicles overlapped, conversations darted in and out as we wove the threads of friendship .

Good Bits

o The Evolution of 1E
o You may know a thing or two, but you're no Johanna
o Broken noses and the indominable strength of women
o Kiwi bird gourds make good parrots

It's a 5 Finch Morning

A crisp fall morning, enough to shiver but not to shake. As I type this entry, I watch five birds warming themselves on the roof outside my window. They are perched in the morning sun warming for the day ahead. Their feathers puff out as they preen themselves. They eye me curiously as I sit perched on my chair with my hair ruffled from sleep, cold fingers pecking away at the keys. Warming up from the inside out with a cup of coffee I think today will be a good day.

Paul Batten

Paul Batten was in Boston tonight and went to the effort to call and look me up. He's a friend from mySyracuse Ultimate days. He also went to my high school but 4 or 5 years after I had. I still remember the first time I played disc with him and Jason DeMaso...

They had come out to play in our summer league pickup and were the only two high school kids on the field. They had crazy skills and were quick. Young, developing, spirited. Paul now plays for Cornell Ultimate and is a Senior on the squad. He gets all sorts of press in the UPA and will be a stellar club player when the time comes.

I'm glad he went to the effort to contact me. I'm sorry I was unable to connect with him tonight but these Ultimate circles tend to come around again. In fact, had I played in Clambake, we'd have been on the same team this weekend. There will definately be a tourney for us in the future.

And if anyone has any Marketing leads, send them Pauls way. That boy needs a job soon.
