On the Mortality of Socks

Death is something that we all have to come to grips with. Our loved ones, friends, pets, even we ourselves will eventually shuffle off the mortal coil. In doing my laundry the other day, I had a disturbing moment of gazing into the abyss. As I folded my socks, I found new and growing holes in two of my favorite pairs. I was unnerved. I remembered that all things must come to their end. That no amount of darning will prevent the inevitable. Someday, probably someday soon, those socks will be no more.

Do not let the everyday things excape your interest. The most fantastical metaphors and insiration can be seen in your socks. But sometimes you have to overcome the smell to recognize the good stuff.
